On April 17, 1950, the 40th army of the fourth field army of the Chinese people's Liberation Army landed at lingaojiao in order to liberate Hainan. In order to commemorate this great historical event, in 1995, with the consent of the Hainan provincial government, the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League initiated and the Hainan people jointly donated 5.2 million yuan to build a memorial statue of the liberation of Hainan - the blood monument. This is the body group stone statue of two soldiers shouting victory. The total height of the statue is 18.9 meters and the total weight is 1600 tons. The front of the statue base is engraved with 16 large characters written by President Jiang Zemin in 1996, "the army and the people jointly build a blood Monument and the achievements of liberating Hainan will last forever", and the back is engraved with the historical stele of crossing the sea and liberating Hainan.
